Senior Tooling Engineer

Job Description General Function: Mold tool concept and detail design for prototype and production projects.  Implementation of mold build and qualification.  Provide technical assistance and direction for engineering and technical support personnel. Essential Functions & Responsibilities:  50% Conceptualize, design and detail injection molds and tooling.  Provide cost estimations, issue quote requests.   10% Interface with tooling vendors for resolution on costing, design requirements and build schedules.  Identify design specs, performance specs and operations requirements for operating the mold in Silgan facilities.   10% Provide assistance in preparing Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) for management review and approval.  Provide assistance in preparing purchase requisition and release job to vendor.  Provide information for contract negotiations. 10%   Maintain records in project book per Silgan procedures.  Provide technical direction for Junior tool designers. 10% Perform follow-up with vendors for all work in process to maintain delivery schedules.  Provide written status reports on all job responsibilities.   10% Provide technical coordination of tooling inspection and evaluation of same with vendors and/or inspection companies.  Provide technical assistance in mold setup in processing for qualification at vendor or at Silgan facility.   Job Requirements Knowledge/Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Industrial/Mechanical Technology or equivalent. Ten to fifteen years related experience and/or training. Equivalent combination of education and experience. Apprenticeship through a qualified mold vendor is a plus. Working knowledge of modern mold building technology of machining, EDM, grinding and polishing.  Understands the injection mold processing technology and the related industrial processes of metrology (inspection) and ISO 9002 requirements. Proficient in the use of computer assisted design software such as 3D modeling, AutoCAD, PC based work processing and spread sheets. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Self-motivated. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
